    1. An art book can be more than just a bunch of pages filled with pretty pictures. Done right, an art book can give you valuable insight into the thought processes that go into the design of something, be it a TV show, movie or – in this case – a computer game, and give the entire thing much more depth and personality. Titan Books are well known for the quality of their ‘Art of ‘ books, and once again they haven’t failed to deliver.I have spent the day immersed in the pages of this book. [...]

Reviewed by: LucyGenre: Art (Video Game)4 StarsSee Review Here: Hearts On Fire ReviewsFacebook link: facebook/pages/HeartsReview: This book, a dark, beautifully illustrated with descriptions, scenes and important points of the video game Thief, is a keeper for collectors and superfans of the game. I am not a fan of the game (I haven’t even every played it) but I read this book as strictly an art book and I loved it. The design and planning that go into making the game are incredible and the do [...]

    4. Awesome. I love concept art. I get such a rush from looking at it and it inspires me to keep at my artwork. Hopefully someday my art will be in books and videos games like these. My favourite sections were The Characters and The City. The characters and their concepts were cool. I really enjoyed reading about where the creators came up with their ideas and what influenced them. I nearly salivated at the concept art for the backgrounds and locations. That part alone was what made me purchase this [...]

    5. Overall, I didn't particularly for the Thief game. While I may have had problems with some of the gameplay elements, what I actually liked was the setting and the design of the game. This book goes into some pretty great detail about designing the look of the game. I had no idea just how much effort went into designing the main character's hands. It makes sense when you think about it, in first-person mode you are going to be seeing those hands a lot, and being a thief he needs to be very quick [...]

    6. Fans of steampunk and dark industrial themes will find plenty to love in the pages of this gorgeous hardcover volume, especially given the fact that the world within Thief is just close enough to our own to be believable. It’s a pseudo-Victorian realm rife with darkness, bizarre technology, and a certain amount of grunge in a city that’s been plunged into eternal night. It’s a rich world that’s not unlike how the lives we know could have turned out in some sort of alternative history, an [...]

    7. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this art book. So why only 3 stars? Honestly, I can't quite put my finger on it. I'm usually a huge fan of art books, but didn't find this one to be anything special. I'm sure part of it has to do with the fact that I have not played the game, however, this hasn't mattered in the past with other art books. It might just be that the art style didn't appeal to me?The book includes concept sketches of the characters, loot and puzzles, as well as the various se [...]
