Ashavan Doyon spends his days working with students as part of the student affairs staff at a liberal arts college During lunch, evenings, and when he can escape the grasp of his husband on weekends, he writes, pounding out words day after day in hopes that his ancient typewriter trained fingers won t break the glass on his tablet computer Ashavan is an avid science fiction and fantasy fan and prefers to write while listening to music that fits the mood of his current story He has no children, having opted instead for the companionship of two beautiful and thoroughly spoiled pugs A Texan by birth, he currently lives in New England, and frequently complains of the weather.

    1. 4.5 STARSAshavan Doyon is one of the best writers I’ve come across when it comes to creating main characters who are still grieving the loss of a deceased husband or lover. We meet Gerry as he boards a familiar cruise ship, needing to spend his Christmas in the place he feels closest to his husband who passed away. Adam was the absolute center of Gerry’s life, his soul mate, his forever love. Now that he’s gone Gerry’s just going through the motions of living, making no effort to move for [...]

    2. REVIEWED FOR PRISM BOOK ALLIANCE4.5 StarsThis was quite a difficult book to read and not necessarily for the reasons you may think.Gerry is grieving and his grief his all-encompassing and very ugly. Not only did he lose his partner, he had to sit by and watch him slowly fade away. He had no support from his own family who dismissed his dead partner Adam for years, blaming him for Gerry being gay. He is still very close to Adam’s family but doesn’t want to further their sadness with his own. [...]

    3. Gerry's Lion - Ashavan DoyonM/M Romance This has death triggers4 stars I was given this book for an honest review by Inked Rainbow Reads. This was a frustrating story. While in the end, I eventually grew to enjoy the book, I had to think about the story and it was not an instant love. It took me a good week to figure out that I did like the end result.Leo was such a wonderful and compassionate person in this story. However, I felt that he was taken advantage of , horribly by Gerry. Also, because [...]

Also, because of Gerry's families, I felt that even though I know this would have been a hard adjustment for them, due to the death of their s [...]

    5. Extremely sweet story. One MC is still massively grieving over the loss of his husband. I liked both the MCs. This devoted lots of page time to the families and steps towards repairing the relationships in both families. I think there was a lot of wish fulfilment going on, around rejection by some families/cultures of LGBTQ people. But there is nothing wrong in that. The one thing I really disliked was that painter dude demanded that other dude leave his career and friends and move to another ci [...]
